**Mega Pokémon** are special forms of certain Pokémon introduced in *Pokémon X and Y* for the Nintendo 3DS. By using a specific item called a **Mega Stone** unique to each Pokémon, a Pokémon can temporarily undergo **Mega Evolution** during battle, transforming into a more powerful form for the duration of that battle.

Mega Evolution boosts a Pokémon’s **stats**, sometimes changes its **ability**, and can even alter its **type**, giving it strategic advantages in combat. Once the battle ends, the Pokémon reverts to its normal form.

You can Mega Evolve your pokemon outside of battles so that you can stroll around on the server with your favourite Mega Pokemon at your side!

### List of all current Mega Pokemon

Here you will find a complete **list of all Mega Pokemon** from the main series, their respective **Mega Stones** along with their current **availability** on the server.

## How to obtain Mega Pokemon on the server

This is where our system diverges from the traditional Pokémon games, introducing a **Minecraft-inspired twist**.

Randomly within the wilderness, you will come across **Boss Pokemon**, being stronger alternatives that offer a range of rewards upon being defeated. One type of boss you may encounter are **Mega Evolved Boss Pokemon**, being one of any species which can naturally spawn in the biome you are currently standing in.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Mega Evolved Boss Pokemon** will only spawn as epic, legendary and ultimate rarities.

After defeating a **Mega Evolved Boss Pokemon** for the first time, they are guaranteed to drop their corresponding **Mega Stone**, which encourages players to explore different biomes in an attempt to track down their desired species. If you have already defeated a given species before, their dropped **Mega Stone** will no longer be guaranteed, and will instead have an equal chance to be **any** **Mega Stone**.

With these steps completed, you are now ready to begin Mega Evolving your Pokemon in battle.

## How do I Mega Evolve Pokemon?

Once you have obtained the appropriate **Mega Stone** and a **Mega Keystone**, you’re ready to begin Mega Evolving your Pokemon and the process is both simple and exciting!

To get started, you can Mega Evolve Pokemon outside of battle, with your **Mega Keystone** equipped, **`Right Click`** the Pokemon whilst holding the **Mega Stone** in your hand to trigger its Mega Evolution animation.

If you wish to Mega Evolve a different Pokémon in your party, just repeat this process by **`Right Clicking`** the desired Pokémon with the **Mega Stone**. You are able to have multiple **Mega Pokemon** at once through this method.

### Mega Evolving within a Battle

Mega Evolution during battles functions slightly differently from the standard method. To begin, ensure that your Pokemon is holding its corresponding **Mega Stone** and that you have your **Mega Keystone** equipped.

Once these requirements are met, enter a battle and select **Fight**. On the battle screen, a new **Mega Evolution icon** will appear. You may activate this option alongside your chosen move for that turn. When selected, your Pokemon will Mega Evolve and execute the selected move simultaneously.

Your Pokemon will remain in its Mega Evolved form until either the opposing Pokemon is defeated or your Pokemon is knocked out. Following these steps will allow you to effectively utilize Mega Evolution in battle.

## Frequently Asked Questions \[FAQ]

**Q \~ Do I need to download a extra mod in order to access the Megas?**

**A \~** *No! The only mod needed for the server is for Pixelmon, after that any content pushed into the server will not require any mod to be installed. Megas by nature are already integrated into the official mod.*

**Q \~ Are we able to use Mega Pokemon within gym battles?**

**A \~** *Yes, we have no clause against this currently so you're free to use Mega's within Gyms. In the future Gyms will also include Mega Pokemon you will have to fight for extra challenge!*

**Q \~ Do Mega Pokemon have their own shiny palletes?**

**A \~** *All mega pokemon will have their own unique Shiny Skin like within the main series games.*

**Q \~ Can we have more than one Mega Pokemon active at a time?**

**A \~** *Yes, but only outside of battles. Within battles you will be restricted to a single mega pokemon.*

**Q \~ Are every single Mega Pokemon live in the server including ZA and it's DLC Megas?**

**A \~** *No, many of the ZA Megas are still not yet obtainable in-game. This functionality is being introduced by the mod creators themselves, meaning we must remain patient for them to be added in future mod updates. However all past Megas are already available.*

**Q \~ Are there any custom Mega Pokemon in the server?**

**A \~** *At this time we have no plans to introduce any custom mega pokemon into the server. We will look into this in the future once we have left BETA and going off player feedback, but yeah currently we have no custom Mega Pokemon in the server.*

**Q \~ Can I access the Mega Bracelet recipe within JEI?**

**A \~** *No, the Mega Keystone is not a physical item you posses in your inventory, and instead lives within the gimmicks menu by the side of your Pokemon. Due to this you cannot pass a Mega Keystone to other users to use either.*

**Q \~ Can you ride on Mega Pokemon and if so which ones?**

**A \~** *Yes you're able to ride on Mega Pokemon assuming the normal form of that pokemon is already rideable. This includes the following Pokemon:*

> Abomasnow, Absol, Aerodactyl, Aggron, Alakazam, Altaria, Audino, Blastoise, Blaziken, Camerupt, Charizard, Garchomp, Gengar, Glalie, Gyarados, Heracross, Houndoom, Kangaskhan, Latias, Latios, Lucario, Manectric, Metagross, Mewtwo, Pidgeot, Pinsir, Rayquaza, Salamence, Sceptile, Scizor, Sharpedo, Slowbro, Steelix, Swampert, Tyranitar, Venusaur

**Q \~ Is there a Mega Stone for Rayquaza? How do I mega evolve Rayquaza?**

**A \~** *Rayquaza is the only Mega Pokemon that does not need a Mega Stone in order to mega evolve, although you will need to have the move Dragon Ascent on the Rayquaza in order to be able to mega evolve it. Once you have Rayquaza with Dragon Ascent, you can mega evolve it like any other general pokemon with the same restrictions.*

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.mmorealms.gg/pixelmon-wiki/general-guides/complete-guide-to-mega-pokemon.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
