This guide will go over everything you need to know about EV Training within Cobblemon on MMO Realms.

Intro to EV Training in Cobblemon

Effort Values (EVs) are hidden attributes that directly increase a PokΓ©mon’s stats as it grows. Customizing your PokΓ©mon's EVs allows you to tailor their strengths for battle, whether that means maximizing Attack for a physical sweeper or boosting HP and Defense for a tank.

Core Rules to EVs

  • The maximum number of EVs a single PokΓ©mon can hold are 510.

  • The maximum number of EVs a single stat can hold are 252.

  • At Level 100, every 4 EVs equals a +1 stat increase to the final stat value.

  • EVs can be previewed from a PokΓ©mon's summary screen.

EV Training Methods

There exist a range of methods to increase a PokΓ©mon's EVs, granting you variety in choice on how to properly train your PokΓ©mon.

Defeating PokΓ©mon

Whenever a PokΓ©mon gains Experience Points from defeating a wild PokΓ©mon, every non-fainted PokΓ©mon in your party that participated in the battle receives EVs based on the defeated species.

  • EV Yields: Wild PokΓ©mon yield between 1 to 3 EVs in a specific stat based on their evolutionary stage.

    • Stage 1 (e.g., Caterpie, Rattata): Yields 1 EV (e.g., 1 Speed EV).

    • Stage 2 (e.g., Metapod, Pidgeotto): Yields 2 EVs.

    • Stage 3 / Fully Evolved (e.g., Butterfree, Pidgeot): Yields 3 EVs.

  • EXP Share Functionality: If an EXP Share is held by a PokΓ©mon that does not participate in battle, they will receive the exact same EVs, just as if they had participated. They do not get split or diluted.

Training Warp

NOTE: This warp currently isn't live yet. It's expected to be pushed live within one of the next few updates released on the server.

MMO Realms features a dedicated EV Training Zone (/warp EV Training) designed to remove the grind of searching for wild PokΓ©mon. This is by far the fastest and most efficient way to EV train on the server.

EV Training Zone
  • The Setup: The hub contains 6 designated arenas or NPC stations, one for each primary stat:

    1. HP

    2. Attack

    3. Defense

    4. Special Attack

    5. Special Defense

    6. Speed

EV Training NPCs
  • NPC Team Composition: Each NPC holds a full team of 6 PokΓ©mon that yield either low or high EVs, in which they are designed to have no damaging moves to fight back.

  • Cooldowns: You can battle these NPCs repeatedly without issue.

Vitamins and Feathers

Vitamins and Feathers are consumable items that immediately add EVs to a PokΓ©mon without requiring battle. In Cobblemon, Vitamins can brewed using Medicinal Brews and specific ingredients.

  • Vitamins: Grant +10 EVs in a specified stat per use.

  • Feathers: Grant +1 EV in a specified stat per use. These are ideal for fine-tuning precise EV spreads.

Power Items

Power Items are held items that dramatically speed up battle-based training (both against wild PokΓ©mon and in the /warp EV Training zone).

When a PokΓ©mon holding a Power Item gains EVs in battle, it receives an extra +8 EVs in that specific stat per defeated PokΓ©mon, regardless of the target's base EV yield.

  • Power Weight : +8 HP EVs

  • Power Bracer : +8 Attack EVs

  • Power Belt : +8 Defense EVs

  • Power Lens : +8 Special Attack EVs

  • Power Band : +8 Special Defense EVs

  • Power Anklet : +8 Speed EVs

Tip: Equipping a Power Item while battling an NPC in the EV Training Warp allows you to max out a stat (252 EVs) in just a few short battles!

Mochi

Mochi is a consumable item introduced alongside Gen 9 mechanics that functions similarly to Vitamins. Eating a Stat Mochi grants an immediate boost to a PokΓ©mon's EVs without requiring any battle encounters.

  • EV Increase: Each Mochi increases a specific stat by +4 EVs.

  • Crafting: Obtained through campfire recipes.

EV Reduction Methods

If you make a mistake, mess up an EV spread, or want to re-train a PokΓ©mon for a different competitive role, you can lower or completely reset its EVs.

Reduction Berries

Consuming specific berries will reduce a PokΓ©mon's EVs by 10 points per berry while also increasing its Friendship level.

Fresh-Start Mochi

Unlike EV-reducing berries which lower stats incrementally, Fresh-Start Mochi completely resets a PokΓ©mon's Effort Values.

Fresh-Start Mochi

Resets all EVs to 0.

RECIPE : 1x Hearty Grain, 1x Honey Bottle, 1x Enigma Berry.

  • Effect: Instantly wipes ALL EVs across every single stat back to 0.

  • Best Used For: PokΓ©mon that were raised normally during play and accrued random EV gains across multiple stats, saving you from having to feed them dozens of berries individual by individual.

Warning: Using a Fresh-Start Mochi cannot be undone! Make sure you actually want to clear the entire EV spread before using it.
