## What are Mega Pokemon?

**Mega Pokémon** are special forms of certain Pokémon introduced in *Pokémon X and Y* for the Nintendo 3DS. By using a specific item called a **Mega Stone** unique to each Pokémon, a Pokémon can temporarily undergo **Mega Evolution** during battle, transforming into a more powerful form for the duration of that battle.

Mega Evolution boosts a Pokémon’s **stats**, sometimes changes its **ability**, and can even alter its **type**, giving it strategic advantages in combat. Once the battle ends, the Pokémon reverts to its normal form.

You can Mega Evolve your pokemon outside of battles so that you can stroll around on the server with your favourite Mega Pokemon at your side!

## How to obtain Mega Pokemon on the server

This is where our system diverges from the traditional Pokémon games, introducing a **Minecraft-inspired twist**.

Between **Y-levels -64 and 16**, you’ll have a rare chance to encounter **Mega Stone Ore**. When mined, this ore will drop a Mega Stone corresponding to the type displayed. Mega Stone Ores generate only in **single-block clusters** and can be mined with **Silk Touch** to preserve their ore form. However, **Fortune enchantments will not increase the number of Mega Stones obtained** from these ores.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Mega Stone Ore** requires a Diamond Pickaxe or better to break for the stone.
{% endhint %}

The deeper you venture into the caves, the greater your chances of discovering these rare ores so keep a sharp eye while mining, as you won’t want to miss out on these truly valuable finds.

Each Mega Stone Ore has its own distinct appearance, meaning the ore shown in the image above may differ from the one you encounter in your own adventures. Additionally, Mega Stones can be **traded, bought, or sold between players**, offering even more opportunities to obtain the specific Mega Stone you need—especially when hunting for a particular Mega Pokémon.

## How to obtain a Mega Bracelet

Obtaining a Mega Bracelet is a straightforward process. The primary component required is a Mega Stone, which will be used as part of the crafting recipe. Any Mega Stone may be used, provided you are willing to consume it for this purpose.

To begin, you must first acquire a **Keystone**. This can be done by placing any Mega Stone into a Stonecutter, where it can be processed into a Keystone. The Keystone is an essential component in crafting the Mega Bracelet.

Keystone Recipe via Stonecutter

Once you have obtained a Keystone, **collect the following items**:

* 1x Keystone
* 4x Iron Ingot
* 2x Redstone Dust
* 1x Cell Battery

After gathering all required materials, use the c**rafting recipe below** to create the **Mega Bracelet**.

Once crafted, the Mega Bracelet can be held in either your main hand or off-hand. If your Pokemon is holding its corresponding Mega Stone, you may `Right Click` while holding the bracelet to initiate Mega Evolution.

With these steps completed, you are now ready to begin Mega Evolving your Pokemon in battle.

## How do I Mega Evolve Pokemon?

Once you have obtained the appropriate Mega Stone and a Mega Bracelet, you’re ready to begin Mega Evolving your Pokemon and the process is both simple and exciting!

To get started, assign the correct Mega Stone to a compatible Pokémon by **`Crouching` + `Right Clicking`** to have it hold the stone. Then, with your **Mega Bracelet** in either your main hand or offhand, simply **`Right Click` on the Pokémon** to trigger its Mega Evolution animation.

If you wish to Mega Evolve a different Pokémon in your party, just repeat this process by **`Right Clicking`** the desired Pokémon with the Mega Bracelet. The previously Mega Evolved Pokémon will automatically revert to its base form.

**NOTE** - Only **one Mega Pokémon** can be active at any given time. It is not possible to have multiple Mega Evolved Pokémon in your party simultaneously.

### Mega Evolving within a Battle

Mega Evolution during battles functions slightly differently from the standard method. To begin, ensure that your Pokemon is holding its corresponding Mega Stone and that you have your Mega Bracelet equipped.

Once these requirements are met, enter a battle and select **Fight**. On the battle screen, a new **Mega Evolution icon** will appear. You may activate this option alongside your chosen move for that turn. When selected, your Pokemon will Mega Evolve and execute the selected move simultaneously.

Your Pokemon will remain in its Mega Evolved form until either the opposing Pokemon is defeated or your Pokemon is knocked out. Following these steps will allow you to effectively utilize Mega Evolution in battle.

## Frequently Asked Questions \[FAQ]

**Q \~ Do I need to download a extra mod in order to access the Megas?**

**A \~** *No! The onnly mod needed for the server is for Cobblemon, after that any content pushed into the server will not require any mod to be installed. This means you don't need to download the likes of Mega Showdown in order to access megas on our server unlike a lot of other servers.*

**Q \~ Are we able to use Mega Pokemon within gym battles?**

**A \~** *Yes, we have no clause against this currently so you're free to use Mega's within Gyms. In the future Gyms will also include Mega Pokemon you will have to fight for extra challenge!*

**Q \~ Do Mega Pokemon have their own shiny palletes?**

**A \~** *All mega pokemon will have their own unique Shiny Skin like within the main series games.*

**Q \~ Can we have more than one Mega Pokemon active at a time?**

**A \~** *No, you won't be able to mega evolve other pokemon until you either de-mega evolve the mega pokemon you already have active, or you delete/trade it away to another player. If you've got two or more mega's active at a time then this isn't intentional and you need to report it to staff to patch this issue.*

**Q \~ Are every single Mega Pokemon live in the server including ZA and it's DLC Megas?**

**A \~** *Yes! We've worked very hard to get all of the Mega Pokemon within the server so you can use all and any from ones that were introduced back in 2013 for X and Y, to those that were released for the DLC for Legends ZA.*

**Q \~ When mining Mega Ore, are we able to use Fortune to get multiple?**

**A \~** *No, using fortune will not grant you with any additional Mega Stones.*

**Q \~ Are there any custom Mega Pokemon in the server?**

**A \~** *At this time we have no plans to introduce any custom mega pokemon into the server. We will look into this in the future once we have left BETA and going off player feedback, but yeah tcurrently have no no custom Mega Pokemon in the server.*

**Q \~ Can I access the Mega Bracelet recipe within JEI?**

**A \~** *Due to how we've set up Mega's without the reliance of a Mod, unfortunately any recipe's we create will not show up within JEI which includes the likes of the Mega Bracelet Recipe.*

**Q \~ What mega stones can I use to cut a Keystone?**

**A \~** *You are able to use any Mega Stone accessible on the server in order to cut it within a Stonecutter to obtain a Keystone. There is no other way to obtain a Keystone outside of buying them from other players.*

**Q \~ Some megas don't have animations or cries, what gives?**

**A \~** *Some pokemon will unfortunately will have missing animations or cries but please be aware that we are still actively working on Mega's to polish all of these issues out. Since most other aspects are ready with them, we don't see a issue with players having access to them instead of pulling them away and updating it at a later date.*

**Q \~ Can you ride on Mega Pokemon and if so which ones?**

**A \~** *Yes you're able to ride on Mega Pokemon assuming the normal form of that pokemon is already rideable. This includes the following Pokemon:*

> Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Dragonite, Sharpedo, Camerupt, Altaria, Salamance, Metagross, Latias, Latios, Staraptor, Garchomp, Scolipede, Golurk

**Q \~ Is there a Mega Stone for Rayquaza? How do I mega evolve Rayquaza?**

**A \~** *Rayquaza is the only Mega Pokemon that does not need a Mega Stone in order to mega evolve, although you will need to have the move Dragon Ascent on the Rayquaza in order to be able to mega evolve it. Once you have Rayquaza with Dragon Ascent, you can mega evolve it like any other general pokemon with the same restrictions.*
