## What are events?

Server **events** are organised activities, games and competitions hosted by staff for the community. They are designed to bring members together and provide more to do on the server outside regular gameplay, all with the chance to win prizes.

There are a range of events on offer, all listed below. Each have their own method for participating, ensuring there's something suitable for everyone to enjoy. To ensure you stay up to date on any upcoming events, make sure you have joined our Discord server and subscribe to any roles you find interesting!

Once set up, you should receive notifications via your relevant announcement channels.

## Flash Events

**Flash events** are quick and short, designed to allow anyone to get involved at the click of a button. They are primarily focused on in-game experiences, in which you are indirectly competing against everyone else who is online.

We aim to host these on a **weekly** basis, typically covering the whole **weekend**. The specific events hosted are on a **rotation** between all included servers, providing an assortment of options to ensure you do not get bored.

### Admin Abuse

> This event <mark style="background-color:$danger;">is not</mark> in current rotation

This event **boosts legendary spawn rates** drastically, offering increased odds for yourself to get a hold of an elusive rarity of a Pokemon. To participate, you must be playing within the Wilds on the server, as this is the only location in which wild legends may spawn. There's no set time for when they may spawn, so keep your eyes peeled as they could be just around the corner.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2FnpIvl8mEvoih3l0wqLTM%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=e28006fa-21bb-4a06-a0c0-2f3026a48b4f" alt="" width="346"><figcaption><p>Example Legendary Spawn - Zapdos</p></figcaption></figure>

Additionally, during certain times of the day you may experience a **Legendary Spike**. This rare phenomena will be announced via the Discord server prior to the drop, offering time for users to log in and get involved. During this time, multiple legends will spawn back to back in short succession, giving you multiple chances to get a hold of one.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2FnNurDiKK7vj0E5VONrnO%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=4b623485-8588-4254-8385-786e06dd4d68" alt=""><figcaption><p>Example Discord Announcement Title</p></figcaption></figure>

It should go without saying, the reward for this event is being able to keep any caught legendaries, whether you wish to battle with them, retain them for a collection, or trade them away.

### Realms Geoguesser

> This event <mark style="background-color:$success;">is</mark> in current rotation

This event takes the idea of the Geoguesser game, and applies the logic to the Minecraft server. Within the `#geoguesser` channel, requests will be posted including both a photo of a location within a publicly accessible area of the server, along with a specific in-game item. To participate, it's your job to figure out where this location is, and submit a screenshot of yourself in third person, in the area whilst holding the specified item.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2FxIp1cGcKo5L3FGKJg2Jc%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=37a16a32-cf14-40b9-86e4-9d06becd02e6" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Example Geoguesser Request</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2F4xafZDJTOPvzy67MIODb%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=b0ca5325-2157-4ffc-af2f-d5ade1521d0c" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Example Geoguesser Submission</p></figcaption></figure>

The rewards for this event includes a mixture of crate keys, where the specific key granted is tied to the difficulty of the provided request.

### Wondertrade Bonanza

> This event <mark style="background-color:$success;">is</mark> in current rotation

This event utilises the servers **Wondertrade** system to distribute rare and highly sought after Pokemon, including Pokemon that are shiny, posses a hidden ability, legendary, mythical, and have other rare forms that are tricky or impossible to obtain through other means. Staff will periodically drop these Pokemon into the Wondertrade system, so it's your job to get lucky and hopefully pull one by listing your own Pokemon.

Whilst some Pokemon leave a global notification in chat about being listed, not all will. Additionally some listed Pokemon may remain in the Wondertrade pool for quite a while before someone grabs it. As a result it's a good idea to keep submitting Pokemon wherever possible to increase your chances to grab something worthwhile.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2Fohb9mjmWs4tfBIyTwr3c%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=a9e9533a-7714-4c7c-a95b-36539de2322e" alt=""><figcaption><p>Example Wondertrade release Announcement</p></figcaption></figure>

The rewards for this event is again being able to keep anything you pull, whether you wish to battle with them, retain them for a collection, or trade them away.

### CobbleSnap

> This event <mark style="background-color:$success;">is</mark> in current rotation

This event takes inspiration from the **Pokemon Snap** games, once again twisting the idea to function to the server. Within the `#cobblesnap` channel, requests will be posted asking that you hunt down a **wild** spawn of a specific species, along with a specific in-game item. To participate, it's your job to track down this Pokemon, and submit a screenshot of yourself with the Pokemon in show whilst holding the specified item.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2Fr7i2FwUEZ1pBgxSP96Ht%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=526ecf53-94bf-47c1-bb7c-aeba21c41ca7" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Example Snap Request</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2FEV84gA4UT62VKbpMcZIU%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=77e613bd-e166-44ad-ac8d-d76b9aa02767" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Example Snap Submission</p></figcaption></figure>

The rewards for this event includes a mixture of Pokecoins, rare candy, shinies, plushies, crate keys, and gems, where the specific reward granted is tied to the difficulty of the provided request.

### Trivia Blitz

> This event <mark style="background-color:$danger;">is not</mark> in current rotation

This event aims to build upon the existing **Chat Games** infrastructure, where for a short while, the number of questions asked will be hugely boosted offering chances for yourself to show off your knowledge. The number of correctly answered questions from yourself within this boosted session will be tallied, where the user who answers the most questions correctly gets an additional reward. To participate, you just need to answer any trivia questions shown as quickly as possible.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2F9BKGxPcAB5taY7rhrtqW%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=cd1c5373-b0eb-44d1-b001-838b594c9206" alt=""><figcaption><p>Trivia Blitz Announcement</p></figcaption></figure>

The rewards for this event includes a mixture of Pokecoins, rare candy, shinies, plushies, crate keys, and gems.

## Community Contests

**Community Contests** are longer events, often with extended deadlines allowing everyone plenty of time to prepare and perfect any relevant submissions. They are primarily focussed on either planning, or creating art based pieces, in which you are directly competing against any other submissions.

We aim to host these on a **tri-weekly** basis, typically running for **multiple weeks**. The specific events hosted aim to be unique, offering a variety of battle formats or art based requests, ensuring you can let your skills shine across a range of topics.

### Tournaments

This event is a test of skill tied to your battle experience, where players will enter a bracket-style **tournament** restricted to the designated battle format, to show off their understanding and technique to come out on top. To participate, you must follow the registration information outlined in the announcement within the corresponding tournaments channel from the Discord server.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2FHlv6KbwE3CYAFzPiZmQM%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=c60658b8-ca5e-45ba-9c9f-9e7c7750e80d" alt=""><figcaption><p>Tournaments Announcement Channels</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="danger" %}
When registering a team, it is crucial that you provide details that **directly** match the Pokemon you already have in-game. We do not provide the listed Pokemon, and you must have access to them at the time of the battle. Any deviation from the provided PokePaste, even as minimal as an EV point may lead to disqualification.
{% endhint %}

If successfully registered, you will be included in the tournament brackets which shows details on who your opponents will be. Please ensure you are available around the stated date and time for participating in battle, as not showing up will also lead to disqualification. All battles will be held as the servers arena, accessible through `/warp arena`.

<figure><img src="https://1136757732-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FaGML4Zd5tMQdGofzRFUX%2Fuploads%2Fxtlm2dl4mHGQvRVuDZ1q%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=ebf62803-039a-4811-a04b-f442ff0a984e" alt="" width="563"><figcaption><p>Tournament Arena</p></figcaption></figure>

The rewards for this event includes a mixture of Pokecoins, Pokemon, plushies, crate keys, gems, and chat tags.

#### Smogon

Each tournament will include it's own restrictions, all of which will be clearly outlined within the initial announcement. However every tournament will be based around Smogon Tiers, being a set of guidelines created by Smogon which is the largest online community and leading authority for competitive Pokemon battling. Each Pokemon is assigned a tier based on its apparent viability for use within battles, where Pokemon of a similar strength are tiered together.&#x20;

{% embed url="<https://www.smogon.com/bw/articles/bw_tiers>" %}

Whilst full details are provided above, as a brief overview the order of tiers is as follows. If a given tournament is set as OU (Overused), you may use any Pokemon that falls into either that tier, or any below it.

### Submission Events

This event is a test of skill tied to your creativity and design, where players be given a prompt and required to submit a suitable **art piece** that meets specified criteria. The format of the request art can vary, with past examples including drawings, in-game builds, and emojis among other things. To participate, you must follow the submission information outlined in the announcement within the corresponding events channel from the Discord server. This is usually in the form of a chat thread.

{% hint style="danger" %}
When submitting an art piece, it is crucial that you ensure it meets all specified criteria, as failing to meet any will result in disqualification. As an example, most drawn art submissions require the inclusion of the server, your Minecraft account, and event names to verify creation for said event.\
\
Additionally we do not permit the use of AI for any submissions. These events are designed to demonstrate your talents, not the talents of an AI agent. Attempting to submit work you had not created yourself is a form of plagiarism, and will result in disqualification, along with potential blacklists from future events.
{% endhint %}

Once the submission deadline has passed, all creations will be reviewed by senior staff to select the best pieces that deserve a reward for their exceptional efforts. Then the responsibility falls on yourself, from these finalists you will be able to submit your vote on who you believe should become the winner. This voting deadline only lasts one day, so be sure you jump in quickly so that your vote counts.

The rewards for this event includes a mixture of Pokecoins, Pokemon, plushies, crate keys, gems, and chat tags.

## Frequently Asked Questions \[FAQ]

**Q \~ Do I need to inform anyone I will be participating in an event prior?**

**A \~** *No, so long as you follow all instructions in the Discord announcement, you are welcome to jump straight in. Flash Events require no form of sign-up, you just need to be in the right place, at the right time. Do be mindful of registration deadlines though when it comes to Community Contests.*

**Q \~ What happens if I disconnect during an event?**

**A \~** *In most cases there unfortunately isn't much we can do, however for the likes of legendary spawns and server bugs, you're welcome to report the issue via a ticket in our Discord server to have the incident reviewed, as we may be able to help after the fact. For the likes of tournaments, immediately contact the staff in charge and make them aware of your connection difficulties, as they **may** be able to provide support and guidance to ensure you don't miss out.*

**Q \~ Where do I submit entries for events requiring a photo?**

**A \~** *Whether this is regarding Snap, Geoguesser, or a Contest Submission, each event will have its own channel or thread in our Discord server. Look out for announcements that direct you toward the right place, however they should all be easy to find near the top of the channel list, named accordingly to match the event.*

**Q \~ Can I submit multiple entries for the same contest?**

**A \~** *To keep things fair, we limit each player to one submission per event unless the specific announcement explicitly states otherwise.*

**Q \~ How and when are prizes distributed?**

**A \~** *Flash Events typically have their rewards issued immediately upon completion of a given round, and should be communicated with you via staff usually via in-game PMs. Community Contest rewards will be distributed after the announcement covering the winners, but might require yourself to open a ticket to claim them, so ensure you read the full post where applicable.*

**Q \~ What happens if someone is caught cheating for exploiting?**

**A \~** *We have a zero-tolerance policy for cheating, exploiting bugs, or using any other unauthorised modifications. Anyone caught doing so will be instantly disqualified, and potentially banned from future events, and may be subject to disciplinary actions tied to server rules.*

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.mmorealms.gg/cobblemon-wiki/general-guides/a-complete-overview-of-events.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
